PRIMARY SCHOOL READINESS


When kids are getting ready for kindergarten, many families wonder about academic skills. But self-care and social and emotional skills are important for kindergarten readiness, too.


Since inception, Spark ALC has provided a proven-effective learning environment for kindergarten readiness.  Our teachers have the expertise, know-how, training and PATIENCE to help your child become ready for ANY school. 


Our tailored approach allows for the parent to be involved in the program and customize the curriculum to the specific needs of their child.


Our Readiness program is broken down into the following areas:

LANGUAGE READINESS

Speaking and being understood by other; using words to express needs/want, following directions, making comparisons and describing relationships, understanding phonics and letters.

READING READINESS

Listening and understanding stories, navigating a book, recognizing signs, reciting and identify the alphabet, writing letters, rhyming, and using pictures to express an idea.

MATH READINESS

Counting, matching, recognizing basic shapes, understanding more and less, ordering objects, colors and patterns.

SCIENCE READINESS

Understanding hot and cold, animals, weather, materials, states of matter, Earth's resources, plants and classifications.

SOCIAL & SELF-CARE READINESS

Using the bathroom and washing up on their own, getting dressed, interacting and playing with others, paying attention for 5 or more minutes (including listening, following directions and discussing topics), feeding and cleaning up.

FINE & GROSS MOTOR SKILL READINESS

Using a pencil / crayon, using scissors, coping basic shapes, making letters, writing their name, putting together a puzzle without adult intervention, jumping with feet together, hopping, climbing stairs and throwing/catching a ball.
